It’s Almost Go Time!

The weather is pretty cool outside today, and the only thing good about that is that FOOTBALL season is right around the corner!  The summer is winding down, preseason games are on, and fantasy managers are getting ready to draft this year’s teams.  IT’S SO FUCKING EXCITING I CAN BARELY CONTAIN MYSELF!  I still find it amazing that I get so excited about football.  Four years ago you wouldn’t have caught me dead watching a football game.  Now I tell everyone I know not to expect me at any functions if they fall on any given Sunday during football season.  If you’ve been reading this blog since the beginning you already know all of this.  You also know that my favorite thing about football season is FANTASYYYYY!!!!!  My league had our draft two nights ago, and I have to be honest when I say:

I AM GOING TO TAKE IT ALL THIS YEAR!!! (Yes, Booze, I am talking to you!)

Since I’m planning on following this year’s fantasy season on this here blog, I thought I’d start at the beginning, with the draft.  I had the 9th pick, and here’s how it all went down.

Round 1: Brandon Jacobs (NYG-RB) –> Some of you may think this was a silly first round pick, BUT I know for a fact that he wouldn’t have made it back to me in the second round.  And if I don’t have #27 on my fantasy team I may as well just call it a day and not even play I love him that much.  BRANDON JACOBS IS MY MAN!

Round 2: Calvin Johnson (DET-WR)

Round 3: Brandon Marshal (DEN-WR)

Round 4: Knowshon Moreno (DEN-RB) –> A local rookie who was a first round draft pick.  Risky?  Maybe.  But I see good things.

Round 5: Darren McFadden (OAK-RB)

Round 6: Carson Palmer (CIN-QB)

Round 7: Antonio Bryant (TB-RB)

Round 8: Dustin Keller (NYJ-TE)

Round 9: Laveranues Coles (CIN-WR)

Round 10: Ahmad Bradshaw (NYG-RB)

Round 11: Nate Burleson (SEA-WR)

Round 12: San Diego (D/ST)

Round 13: Mark Sanchez (NYJ-QB) –> Ladies, have you SEEN what this man looks like?  HOLY!  Here, check it out:

(WHAT?!?)

Round 14: Nick Folk (DAL-K)

Round 15: Edgerrin James (SEA-RB)

Round 16: Todd Heap (BAL-TE)

Round 17: Earl Bennett (CHI-WR)

I’m really happy with my team.  I am excited for the season and will enjoy watching all of these players.  I think I’m going to blow the rest of my league out of the fucking water, but who am I to say.  Anything can happen.  I would much rather have gotten the Giants defense, and in my opinion they were drafted a little early, but whatever.  I had Palmer my first year and he brought me to the championship that year (although I lost).  I have a good feeling about him this year especially when he’s throwing to Coles.  I feel safe with Bradshaw as a backup to Jacobs because, as much as I love him, we all know he’s injury-prone.  I know the Marshal/Johnson combo will do me proud, and only the football gods know what we’ll see out of Moreno and Sanchez.  And doesn’t anyone remember what the San Diego defense was like just two years ago?  DOMINATING.  So, watch out you “In It To Win It” managers, because UrWrstNitemare is about to come true!

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?!?!?!?

Oh, and to make it even better, I get to go ogle the ass of both Jacobs and that sexy man Sanchez this Saturday and the Giants-Jets preseason game.  Thirty rows behind the Giants bench.  It’s going to be a great season.

What the Hell Is Twitter?

I’ve been hearing that question more and more frequently these days. People say, “Well, isn’t it the same as updating your Facebook status?” And I kindly reply, “Well, no, not really.” Then they ask me to explain it further and every time it just seems to get harder and harder to vocalize exactly what Twitter is and exactly WHY it is so addicting. Everyone’s in on it! My mom even signed up for Twitter but she doesn’t know what the hell for, she just heard it was the “new thing.” Hell, relationships are ending because of Twitter addictions!!!

So when I found the following animation on YouTube, I thought I’d post it here so that anyone wondering what the fuss is all about can check it out. For those of you already on the Twitter bandwagon, I hope you find this as funny as I did.

I Want To Read The Book First

I feel like I can’t watch TV or go on the internet lately without seeing something pop up about the new movie Twilight.  Can’t we all get a chance to read the book first, though?  What did they make this movie in like, five minutes?  Because just as I started to hear the buzz about the books, POOF!  There’s a movie coming out.  At least the Harry Potter series gave us a couple of years before we got to see the film version.  Either way, I now have a copy of Twilight which I will start reading tomorrow, and I’m hoping that I can stay away from any potential spoilers long enough to finish it.  It really ruins the fun of reading a book of you already know what happens.

The iPhone App You Can’t Live Without

I saw this commercial on Sunday while watching football:

Here’s where I tell you I am a proud iPhone owner and am just totally a little obsessed with the app store that rolled out earlier this year.  I have pages of apps on my phone, and am constantly searching for new ones to add.  I usually find myself playing with them for a few days, only to purge them from the phone on Sundays and replace them with new finds.  Nine times out of ten I’m downloading free games because, why not?  It’s a rare thing nowadays to find something truly free.  I mean, I had to buy the phone and all that jazz, but still.  Free is good.

Anyway after I saw this commercial I grabbed my laptop to check out this UrbanSpoon, thinking that if it really did what the ad said it would, this invention may just be the answer to my prayers.  You see, I am a Libra, and Libras are characteristically indecisive.  Especially hungry Libras, because the hungrier we get, the more indecisive we become.  So if you’ve ever gotten into a conversation like this with a Libra:

You: “Hey Libra, what do you want to do for dinner?”

Libra: “I don’t know, what do you want?”

You: “I could go for anything, what are you thinking?”

Libra: “I don’t really care either, whatever you want.”

You know what I’m talking about.

This app, my friends (!), is the best thing ever invented for this particular situation. Not only do you simply shake the phone to get a random restaurant in your neighborhood (or anywhere near you), you also get your slot machine fix to boot!

You need to check this out.  UrbanSpoon for the iPhone.  It shows you consumer ratings, location, contact information, articles and reviews from both users and major publications, and you can call the restaurant directly from the app.  You can even lock each of the categories so you can search by neighborhood, cuisine, price, or all three.  Genius!  Invite your friends and share your faves!

If you like to eat, and are tired of the same old boring chinese food restaurant it’s worth the download. Besides, it’s FREE.  Honestly, I swear.  But once the word gets out I’m sure the developers will get hip to the idea that they could make some money with this thing, so get it while it’s hot. Here, go here.  Now.

PS – If you don’t have an iPhone, sorry for the shameless plug.  But seriously, you should think about getting one because they’re really cool.  And stuff.
